How to Use the Blocklist Feature to Control Your Outreach

Prevent outreach to specific contacts or entire companies by managing your blocklist in Instantly.

What is the Blocklist?

The blocklist feature allows you to exclude specific people or entire companies from your outreach campaigns. This ensures you never accidentally reach out to the wrong contacts.

Who Should You Add to Your Blocklist?

Consider adding:

  • Your existing customers - Avoid sending cold outreach to people who already work with you

  • Past unsubscribers - Respect people who previously opted out (though these are automatically added)

  • Specific companies - Exclude organizations you don't want to target for any reason

  • Personal contacts - Block colleagues, partners, or anyone else you shouldn't contact through cold outreach

How to Add Contacts to Your Blocklist

Step 1: Navigate to the blocklist page

Step 2: Prepare your CSV file

You can upload contacts in two ways:

  • Individual emails - Add specific email addresses (like [email protected]) to exclude just that person

  • Entire domains - Add domain names (like company.com) to exclude everyone at that organization

Step 3: Upload your CSV

Click the upload button and select your prepared CSV file. The system will process your blocklist additions.

Important Notes

  • All unsubscribers are automatically added to the blocklist, so you don't need to manually upload them

  • Domain-level blocking is powerful - if you add "company.com," no one with an @company.com email will be contacted

  • You can update your blocklist at any time as your needs change
